MDA Muscle Gala and Meeting My New Hero

10/18/2017

I had the chance to meet the bravest little kids I've ever known, and their even braver parents this evening.

I had the chance to meet the brave kids -- heroes, really -- that are the face of MDA America and to hear their stories, see their smiles as they signed autographs, and most importantly shared their stories to help create awareness for their cause and to fundraiser for treatments and a cure.

I didn't know a lot about MDA, or the incredible work they do for these kids and their families and the summer camps they put on for a traditional summer camp experience that allows them to feel like a regular kid.

Emily definitely stole the show, but I'm pretty excited to have a sister princess!
Some days, I drive 5 hours for an appearance and stay hours later than I’m scheduled for.
Some days, I make pit stops that are unscheduled for items I think I might need at the appearance.
Some days, I don’t get in until 1 a.m. with a million and four things to do the next day.
But it’s always the longest drives and the latest nights that hold the most rewarding experiences.

Tonight, I met Emily at the 3rd Annual MDA Muscle gala sponsored by CITGO —
and I had no idea what a little ray of sunshine I’d be spending my evening with.

Tonight, I heard stories of hope and watched a tight knit community of people come together to support a cause that’s so vital to research and cure.

I can’t thank everyone at MDA Nashville enough for having me — your organization and everyone at tonight’s event truly touched my heart, thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a special night!
I’m pumped for sweet Emily to be my new best friend, twin (as Em told me), and fellow princess.

(Shoutout to Emily for letting me take the sash home because she thinks I deserve it) — much love to everyone involved in such a special fundraiser!!

Emily told me that "it really is hard being famous. So many people want your autograph. It's just exhausting. Let's go sing karaoke and take a break." Couldn't have picked a better partner for the evening.

Thanks for reading about my rhinestoned road trips and this rollercoaster of a ride being Miss Scenic City.

All my love,

Christine Electra

"Perhaps you were created for this very moment."

The crown that sits on your head is a reminder that you are not the one that is to be adored for your sparkly accessories but a reminder that you are an ambassador and a servant leader for your community.

    love,

    Christine Electra
