Getting rid of New Years resolutions

1/1/2016

I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions, in my opinion they're often broken and forgotten more often than kept and worked towards.

However I do believe in setting goals for myself and breaking them down into smaller steps to achieve the larger goal.
I think goal setting should happen for each one of us through out our year and we should keep an active checklist and be striving to complete those goals throughout a set time frame.

One of my problems with making New Year's Resolutions is that even if they are worked towards for one year- why should it stop there? Shouldn't these good habits that we develop be life skills that we keep and at least attempt to nurture for years to come?
Another thing that bothers me about New Year's Resolutions is that they're often so general that if we fail to make an attempt at these resolutions, any effort at all can be written off as attaining the goal that we set for ourselves.

Goals don't have to be lofty.
Goals can be simple, and they should be.
Goals should be attainable and within our reach, if we genuinely want to achieve them.
However, we should also have goals that ARE lofty- that are the things we dream about before we fall asleep... Those are the things that keep us going day to day that we love to think about and hope that will happen one day.
But we should also actively chase these dreams.

We shouldn't leave them to just live in our distant dreams when we sleep.
Most of our dreams ARE within our reach, its just going to take a few steps to reach them.
If you genuinely want something, GO FOR IT.
But put those smaller check points in place to mark your progress.
Find out what it takes, put the steps into place, and make it happen!
Don't just set a goal for yourself and write it off when you don't achieve it, leaving yourself down and discouraged.
It's time to make those dreams a reality.
Write your dream down. Figure out how to get there. Break down the steps to attain it.
And then go for it!

Anything is possible.

All it takes is belief, hard work, and determination.

"Perhaps you were created for this very moment."

The crown that sits on your head is a reminder that you are not the one that is to be adored for your sparkly accessories but a reminder that you are an ambassador and a servant leader for your community.
